Deadlocks (Hook Locks)
Deadlocks, or hook locks, are secondary mechanical locks fitted to the van’s load area doors, working alongside the factory-fitted lock.
Much like a back door at home, deadlocks require a key to lock or unlock, adding an extra layer of security.
This setup provides protection from two locks rather than relying solely on the factory lock.
We typically recommend deadlocks for the load area only, as most vans have a bulkhead separating the cab from the cargo area.
Note: We primarily fit the hook lock variant for most vans, only using deadbolt versions if body styling requires it.
Slam Locks
Slam locks work like most front door locks, automatically locking when the door is shut. This is particularly useful for multi-drop drivers, such as couriers, who need convenience and speed.
However, slam locks can lead to accidental lockouts if keys are left in the back, and they do not provide an additional locking mechanism. For safety, we never fit slam locks to the cab area of a van, as this could be dangerous in an emergency.
The Ultimate Lock – Combined Deadlock and Slam Lock
The ultimate lock combines the benefits of both deadlocks and slam locks. Typically installed as a surface-mounted deadlock, it provides a strong visual deterrent.
We can configure the ultimate lock to lock automatically, giving you the option for both deadlock and slam lock functionality in one. Ideal for the load area, we recommend regular deadlocks for cab security if needed.
Rep Locks for Ford Transit Security
Rep locks are high-security barrels specifically designed for Ford Transits and Transit Customs. These locks replace the original locks with stainless steel, anti-pick, anti-drill, and anti-spin components. Not only do rep locks provide advanced protection, but they can also repair damage from previous attacks, especially if the original lock has failed.
Repair and Protection Plates
External shields help protect against attacks on the door latch, preventing access to the internal mechanism. They can also serve as an affordable alternative to body shop repairs, as we can fit them on-site while you work. Available in black or stainless steel, we also offer internal latch shields, loom guards, and handle shrouds for added security.
